A bimodal age distribution with peaks in infancy and adolescent years is found in pediatric venous thromboembolism. Ommen, M.D., Ph.D., presents evaluative findings of the epidemiology and management of VTE in adolescents in comparison to younger children. This presentation uses an international, multicenter, prospective disease registry of the International Pediatric Thrombosis Network (IPTN). Differences in epidemiology, risk factors, and management, which might promote tailored preventative and management strategies, will be discussed.
